Top 3 Boats with past district governor, Charlie Buckner

Last years Flying Scot Atlantic Coast Championship was scrubbed due to a hurricane off the coast of New Jersey.  This years weather was the perfect opposite.  High temps on Saturday of 82 degrees, winds 10 to 14, and light cloud cover made for an almost perfect day on the water.  The RC was had mulitple fleets to manage with an "inner/short" course and an "outer/long" course.  They even had the, sometimes challenging, dogleg finish line.  Saturday's starts were almost all pin favored, but the starting line was so short it didn't really matter where you started.  The winds were shifting...

We had 5 races Saturday in winds 12-18, awesome weather. Sunday, we got 2 more good races in 8-12 MPH winds, another great day in the water. Congratulations to Jeff and Amy Smith Linton (1), John and Connie Eckart (2), and Chip Merlin and Chris Morgan (3). Thanks to SLSC for an awesome event. The newest boats to the US Marines Corps. Come sail them if you have access to Quantico. We would have been here yesterday but I fell asleep in one of the boats on top of a Mountain in Maryland, maybe West Virginia.

Deep Creek Yacht Club hosted the Sandy Douglass Memorial Regatta on 7/27-728 with 35 boats participating across 4 Divisions. There was enough wind on Saturday to get in a 1 and 1/2 Windward Leeward with the last leg being shortened. On Sunday, there was just no wind at all. Aside from the wind, the weather, the parties and the camaraderie were great. Tyler and Carrie Andrews won the regatta. The winner of the coveted Monkey award was Tom Wolfe, who gets to add his own memorabilia before he brings it back next year.
