Last years Flying Scot Atlantic Coast Championship was scrubbed due to a hurricane off the coast of New Jersey.  This years weather was the perfect opposite.  High temps on Saturday of 82 degrees, winds 10 to 14, and light cloud cover made for an almost perfect day on the water.  The RC was had mulitple fleets to manage with an "inner/short" course and an "outer/long" course.  They even had the, sometimes challenging, dogleg finish line.  Saturday's starts were almost all pin favored, but the starting line was so short it didn't really matter where you started.  The winds were shifting fairly regular over a 20 degree range so there were lots of opportunities.  Dodging other fleets on the downwind leg and rounding marks with them added a whole new challenge.  They ran 4 leg races with 1/2 mile windward legs so they were cranking out races in 30 to 35 minutes.  As a result, we got in 5 races on Saturday.  After 6+ hours on the water everyone was thirsty, hungry, and tired!  Lake Norman held the top 3 spots with a tie for 2nd between Porter and O'Donnell.  

On Sunday, the RC tried something new and made the boat end favored for both races.  Winds were a little lighter, in the 6 to 10 range, but we still got in 2 solid races.  In the end, Dave Rink and his daughter Sydney won the regatta with 9 points over 7 races.  The Tim Porter and Steve Shaw team came in 2nd, and held off Sean O'Donnell and Carol Sandke finishing third.
