Wow! Over 50 of the 60+ competitors registered for the 2018 Flying Scot Midwinters sailed out today for the practice race. With a southwesterly wind blowing 5-8, our PRO Fairlie Brinkley and team were able to get in a 4-leg windward-leeward race. The mark roundings were tight, the fleet was pretty close. In the end Zeke and Jay Horowitz led the way to the finish with the rest of us not too far behind. The Charlie Fowler trophy for the top 3 finishers in a fleet goes to Sarasota Sailing Squadrons own fleet 36, WIth Zeke Horowitz 1st, Bob Twinem 2nd and...

As 60+ boats are setting up for the practice race at the 2018 Midwinters, your Board of Governors is working to keep up the FSSA business!  President Bill Vogler thanked Chief Measurer Bob Neff for his many years fo service to the organization and his tireless dedication to keeping our class strong and our boat's one design intact.  We have indeed been fortunate to have Bob's service for these 25+ years.

2018 MW SSS

Next Monday, March 26, 60 boats carrying more than 120 of the best sailors in the country will take to Sarasota Bay for four days of racing in the 2018 Flying Scot Midwinters at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.

Competitors start arriving Saturday, March 24, and compete in a warm-up race Sunday, March 25.

2018GWBR

For those of us that are stuck in the winter doldrums, think about what's going on in the Florida Distirct!  The District Series in in full swing and there are lots of teams participating.  This weekend, the wind did not make much of an appearance at the 2018 George Washington Birthday Regatta at Lake Eustis but the fun sure did.
