We had perfect fall weather at the Punzi Memorial and Greater New York Districts this weekend at Candlewood Yacht Club in CT. PRO Mark Riefenhauser and the Race Committee ran 6 awesome races, 4 Saturday in N winds 15-18 and 2 Sunday in W winds 19-16. Both days were mostly sunny in the 60's and the conditions were tough with lots of shifts and gusts but still lots of fun. John and Connie Eckart from Massapoag Yacht Club won the Punzi Regatta. Dave Irving win the Greater NY Districts. Too 5 skippers were John Eckart, David Irving, Dan Walsh, Greg Kampf and Tim Gordon.

The 2022 Great Scot Regatta was held over the October 1, 2 weekend after Hurricane Ian had passed well East of Birmingham Sailing Club and made its way North of the regatta site.  The storm caused terrible damage where it passed but provided Logan Martin Lake with a fresh Northerly breeze and clear blue skies.

The 24 Teams were split into their choice of two fleets and sailed on the same course with separate Starts.  After a brief Postponement of the 1pm first race to allow the wind direction to settle in, 3 very competitive, 50 minute races were completed Saturday.

Fifteen Scots were registered and the 14 that sailed were on the starting line Saturday hailing from five states (GA, TN, AL, SC and NC). Ben Williams and Deb Aaronson (FS6144) traveled the farthest, from Eastern North Carolina, for their first-time sailing in the Scot-A-Hoochee.

From Bill Vigler:
Carlyle Sailing Association held their multi-class Whale of a Sail Regatta on 9/17-9/18/2022. It was sunny and warm in the 80's with south winds 8-15 - sounds like a perfect weekend. The competition was spirited and the racers had fun. In the Flying Scot Fleet, former collegiate sailors Karl Schuette and crew Andy had 3 bullets on Saturday but could not attend on Sunday. Winners were Greg Florian and Kay Ward, who sail a Scot now after years of success in the Lightning class. FSSA Immediate Past Commodore Bill Vogler and crew Marc Schillebeeck were second. Eric and...
