The Florida District encompasses most of the fleets in the state of Florida.Active fleets include Sarasota Sailing Squadron in Sarasota, Coconut Grove Sailing Center in Miami, Rudder Club of Jacksonville, Lake Eustis Sailing Club in Eustis, Davis Island Yacht in Tampa and Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club in Port Charlotte. With developing fleets in Merritt Island, Orlando and Key Largo.

Florida has an active open circuit consisting of one regatta a month from October through May. Race Schedules are posted on FSSA and Facebook. You can follow the Florida District at

After a weather postponement earlier in the day, we went out in 15-17 knot winds and finished the first 2 races of the regatta today. One general recall got everyone in line and we only heard starting horns after that!  Everyone stayed upright, but one collision caused a dismasting. There were several other collisions as well with less damage resulting from those. Despite that it was overall a great day on the water after the bad weather earlier in the day.  Super job...   We are 5 races into a 6 race season and we have a winner; Paul Abdullah!  Congratulations to Paul and his crew who won the Lake Eustis regatta, after also winning in Jacksonville and Tampa.  You may know that Paul is a champion in the Thistle class and he seems to be having no trouble adapting to another Sandy Douglas design.
