The Florida District encompasses most of the fleets in the state of Florida.Active fleets include Sarasota Sailing Squadron in Sarasota, Coconut Grove Sailing Center in Miami, Rudder Club of Jacksonville, Lake Eustis Sailing Club in Eustis, Davis Island Yacht in Tampa and Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club in Port Charlotte. With developing fleets in Merritt Island, Orlando and Key Largo.
Florida has an active open circuit consisting of one regatta a month from October through May. Race Schedules are posted on FSSA and Facebook. You can follow the Florida District at

When there is a regatta in Merritt Island, FL, you will probably have great racing, but Henry Picco arranged a rocket launch during this year's Space Coast Regatta - how cool is that? On Saturday, there was a great day of racing. with 2 races in 4-6 knot wind and 2 races 8-10 knot wind. Flying Scot Fleet 36 and the Sarasota Sailing Squadron hosted the 2016 Jeff Penfield Memorial Regatta on 11/12-13. 2016. This is the second leg in the 2016 Florida District Series. The BBYRA consists of 5 member clubs - Coconut Grove Saling Club, Miami Yacht Club, Key Biscayne Yacht Club, Coral Reef Yacht Club and Biscayne Bay Yacht Club. The 2015 - 2016 series was won by Jim and Cherl Signor from Coconut Grove Sailing Club. Full results are here.

On Wednesdays at the CGSC we make it very easy to sail. The story below pretty much sums up an average evening. However, our sailing club is only half the equation, the Flying Scots are the hook that keeps them coming back.
