The Florida District encompasses most of the fleets in the state of Florida.Active fleets include Sarasota Sailing Squadron in Sarasota, Coconut Grove Sailing Center in Miami, Rudder Club of Jacksonville, Lake Eustis Sailing Club in Eustis, Davis Island Yacht in Tampa and Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club in Port Charlotte. With developing fleets in Merritt Island, Orlando and Key Largo.
Florida has an active open circuit consisting of one regatta a month from October through May. Race Schedules are posted on FSSA and Facebook. You can follow the Florida District at

Today was expected to be a light air day, but it turned out to be a great day for racing! With the sun only hidden by a cloud here and there and the winds from 6-12 from the East, it was so much fun being on the water today. There were lots of shifts and if you followed them you made out well, if you didn't, you really were taking your chances. Wow! Over 50 of the 60+ competitors registered for the 2018 Flying Scot Midwinters sailed out today for the practice race. With a southwesterly wind blowing 5-8, our PRO Fairlie Brinkley and team were able to get in a 4-leg windward-leeward race. The mark roundings were tight, the fleet was pretty close. Next Monday, March 26, 60 boats carrying more than 120 of the best sailors in the country will take to Sarasota Bay for four days of racing in the 2018 Flying Scot Midwinters at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.
Competitors start arriving Saturday, March 24, and compete in a warm-up race Sunday, March 25.
