A record 25 Flying Scots showed up at the Keowee Sailing Club in Seneca, South Carolina for the 2016 Grits 'n Haggis Regatta.  The event, held on May 21-22, also served as the 2016 Dixie Lakes District Championship Regatta.  Only 2 races were held on Saturday, due to the effects of a violent squall after the end of the second race.  PRO Jake Kohl had wisely shortened that race and sent the fleet scurrying for cover from a fast approaching squall which had unexpectedly turned more than 90 degrees to the right and headed due south to our...

On Wednesdays at the CGSC we make it very easy to sail. The story below pretty much sums up an average evening. However, our sailing club is only half the equation, the Flying Scots are the hook that keeps them coming back. Pictured are 3 of our club "sponsor" boats headed back to the dock up the main channel through the mooring field while flying the spinnaker. While this maneuver is not recommended for the faint of heart, the stability and ease of handling of the Flying Scot makes this possible. Florida's last regatta of the season, before the summer heat, was the Florida District Championship at Upper Keys Sailing Club in Key Largo, FL.  it was advertised this way  "Your boat deserves a vacation in the Keys! FLORIDA DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS at the Upper Keys Sailing Club on May 21-22".

There was a story within a story at the 2016 Great 48 Regatta at Lake Norman Yacht Club May 7-8, 2016.  First, there were 42 boats registered, which is wonderful!  On Saturday, the winds were 10-12 gusting to 18, and on Sunday, things were a little more steady at 11.  Lake Norman always puts on a great show and this was no exception.
