New England

The New England District is in the Northeast region and encompasses Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island.

Our active fleets in Massachusetts are located at Rockport (Sandy Bay Yacht Club), Duxbury (Duxbury Bay Yacht Club), Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield (Quannapowitt Yacht Club), and Lake Massapoag in Sharon (Massapoag Yacht Club), as well as at Harwich Port (Stone Horse Yacht Club) and Chatham (Pleasant Bay Community Boating) on Cape Cod.  Our New Hampshire fleets are located at Lake Massabesic in Manchester (Massabesic Yacht Club), Spofford Lake in Spofford (Spofford Yacht Club), and Lake Sunapee in Sunapee (Lake Sunapee Cruising Fleet).

Our District Governor is Dennis Dobe from Fleet 196, at Massabesic Lake in NH.  The New England District is the home to FSSA Chief Measurer Roger Sharp, FSSA Web Editor Diane Kampf and Scots 'n' Water Editor Tim Mallette

Things were wild on the water today at Newport for the 2016 NAC Qualifiers.  We had a nice ride out to the race course past so many sailboats/yachts you could not count, then under the Newport Bridge - what a beautiful sight!  On a nice sunny day in the 80's, 46 boats were ready to vie for their place in the Championship or Challenger Division, hopes were high for getting in all 3 races today, and we did.   Race 1 with group A and B sailing together then group C and D sailing... Four women's teams sailed out under the Newport Bridge for the 2016 Women's NAC.  When they left the dock around 11:00 AM< the wind was light but by the time they got to the race course, the wind had picked up and there was plenty of breeze. The finishes were close between the 1st and 2nd place boats in all 3 races.  But in the end, Lynn Bruss and her crew, Deb Aronson and Stacey Rieu prevailed.  Full results are here.
