New England

The New England District is in the Northeast region and encompasses Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island.

Our active fleets in Massachusetts are located at Rockport (Sandy Bay Yacht Club), Duxbury (Duxbury Bay Yacht Club), Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield (Quannapowitt Yacht Club), and Lake Massapoag in Sharon (Massapoag Yacht Club), as well as at Harwich Port (Stone Horse Yacht Club) and Chatham (Pleasant Bay Community Boating) on Cape Cod.  Our New Hampshire fleets are located at Lake Massabesic in Manchester (Massabesic Yacht Club), Spofford Lake in Spofford (Spofford Yacht Club), and Lake Sunapee in Sunapee (Lake Sunapee Cruising Fleet).

Our District Governor is Dennis Dobe from Fleet 196, at Massabesic Lake in NH.  The New England District is the home to FSSA Chief Measurer Roger Sharp, FSSA Web Editor Diane Kampf and Scots 'n' Water Editor Tim Mallette

The day started with a postpone on shore with light and squirrily winds. PRO Gary Werden and crew kept a watchful eye on the weather and we did finally have one race before lunch It was a shortened windward- leeward course and after lunch there just was not enough wind to race. At 4PM the wind filled in from the south and we got in 2 great late afternoon races before calling it a day. Nice breeze and stiff competition with 12 boats registered from 7 different states. Melanie Dunham and Stacey Rieu won the race. We start tomorrow at 9:00 skippers meeting. Can’t wait!
We have 12 women's teams from 7 states registered to date and we have room for more!  There are 5 teams coming from Texas - yeehaw!  New England District Champions Roger and Kate SharpPhotos Courtesy of Skip Montello With 14 boats competing in the FS New England Districts, first place goes to Roger and Kate Sharp from Massapoag Yacht Club! Second was John and Connie Eckart from MYC. Third was David Corey and his niece Taylor Corey from Duxbury. MYC’s Gary Werden and Brandon Dickerman were fourth. The racing was great, getting in 5 races, on a sunny day in the 80’s with winds 13-16 and some gusts. Congratulations! Full results are here.
