New England

The New England District is in the Northeast region and encompasses Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island.

Our active fleets in Massachusetts are located at Rockport (Sandy Bay Yacht Club), Duxbury (Duxbury Bay Yacht Club), Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield (Quannapowitt Yacht Club), and Lake Massapoag in Sharon (Massapoag Yacht Club), as well as at Harwich Port (Stone Horse Yacht Club) and Chatham (Pleasant Bay Community Boating) on Cape Cod.  Our New Hampshire fleets are located at Lake Massabesic in Manchester (Massabesic Yacht Club), Spofford Lake in Spofford (Spofford Yacht Club), and Lake Sunapee in Sunapee (Lake Sunapee Cruising Fleet).

Our District Governor is Dennis Dobe from Fleet 196, at Massabesic Lake in NH.  The New England District is the home to FSSA Chief Measurer Roger Sharp, FSSA Web Editor Diane Kampf and Scots 'n' Water Editor Tim Mallette

The 2019 Fleet of the Year award was awarded to Fleet 76 from Massapoag Yacht Club in Sharon, MA. Fleet 76 has 20+ FSSA members and amongst its memebrs are Chief Measrer Roger Sharp and Web Editor Diane Kampf. Greg Kampf is the Fleet Captain. The fleet is very active in racing running over 90 races per year with Flying Scots on the line.   There was lots of activity in the Flying Scots class this weekend - the ACC at Fishing Bay Yacht Club in VA, the Glow in the Dark Regatta/Midwest Districts at Clinton Lake Sailing Association in IL, and the Scot-A-Hoochee/Dixie Lakes Districts at Lake Lanier Sailing Club in GA.  I am waiting for some write-ups and some pictures, Meanwhile, the results ofall thre regattas are under regatta results.

  What a difference between yesterday and today! With the Northeast wind blowing 12-14 and 2-3 foot waves, the RC went out to see what it looked like. They came back with a big thumbs up and we made our way out to the race course. The wind continued to moderate a bit during the races, but the waves stayed!
