Trailer Lights

Can anyone recommend a good reliable brand for trailer lights. The Wesbar unit I am using looks like new inside, but just a slight wiggle of the bulb makes the unit either functional or not functional. I tried bending the socket tab. Other units that I have seen all have the same cheap socket

Go to Wal-Mart and buy the LED trailer lamp kit, it will cost around $50 and you can install it your self. I did not run a new harness, just cut and stripped the wires close to the exsisting fixture and used the provided heat shrink butt-style connectors(Very important to use heat shrink style and heat them until the glue oozes out).
I run two trailers and 4am is now a much more pleasant time!

Thanks for the tip on the LED sealed units. I ordered a set from ebay $29 +$9 shipping.

Trailer lights generally fail because of corrosion between the contact plate and the bulb. The new digital lights are excellent, but a cheap way to keep the lights working is to disassemble the light, clean the contacts and coat everything that is metal with petroleum jelly. This seals out the moisture and protects the contact. Make sure the ground for the light is also protected. The amber clearance lights on the aluminum trailers sometimes have a problem with the ground contact getting corroded and losing contact. I also coat the plug to the car to keep the contact clean.
