The Lake Kegonsa Sailing Club is hosting the Full Moon Regatta series
On the full moon evenings in July and August including the August Blue Moon the LKSC will be hosting sailing races on Lake Kegonsa in Wisconsin
Stoughton,Wis. —A new exciting annual sailing event is being initiated on Lake Kegonsa – a series of races on full moon summer nights. The 2012 Full Moon Regatta series will have races on Tuesday, July 3,Wednesday, August 1 and the Blue Moon regatta finale on Friday, August 31 starting approximately at sunset. The races are expected to begin with a start line off the Lake Kegonsa shoreline near Springers of Lake Kegonsa. Springers has outside viewing and two large docks. The fleet of boats will sail from the Springers location to two or three sailing marks on Lake Kegonsa returning to a finish line under a Full Moon.
Lake Kegonsa is located 15 minutes southeast of Madison, Wisconsin or 80 miles northwest of Chicago, Ill approximately a ten minute drive from county N exit on I-90.
The regatta series is open to one design sailing boats equal or less than twenty feet in length with separate race starts expected for Flying Scot and MC Scow sailboats. There will be food provided to the sailing competitors at Springers before the first two races and a Blue Moon party after the final event.
