We'll be renaming our Flying Scot fairly soon. While I heard all about appeasing the gods I'm still wondering the best way to appease the gel coat.

The current boat name is painted onto a dark green hull. I've seen various approaches to the removal, from chemicals to sanding it with toothpaste. Now it's time for me to figure out what to try first.

Any experiences (good and bad) as well as tips would be welcome.
