2021 Roger Punzi Memorial at Candlewood Lake, CT
At the Roger Punzi Memorial, 11 boats had the pleasure of 5 great races on 2 beautiful sunny days in new Fairfield, CT. RAce Committee Richard and Jenn Palmer and crew had to be patient on Saturday and flew the postpone flag for an hour or so. The first race was light air, but in the last leg, the wind picked up and held for the rest of the day. At the end of day 1, the Kampfs led with 3 bullets, followed by Mark Riefenhauser and David Irving with 8 points each. Sunday was a different story - with winds predicted to be 5-7, we actually got 10-12, a nearly perfect race day. In 2 challenging 45-minute races, if you followed the shifts, you made out well. At the end of the 5 races, the Kampfs won with 5 bullets, followed by David Irving and Mark Riefenhauser in 2nd and 3rd. Thanks to Fleet 24 for hosting a fun regatta - can't wait for next year!
