2013 Hot Scot Regatta - Results
Portage Yacht Club (Pinckney, MI) hosted the 2013 Hot Scot Regattaon September 21-22, 2013. In addition to many of the regular attendees, the event welcomed boats from as far away as Illinois this year. The typical shifty Portage Lake breeze was moderate to strong on both days and allowed all 5 races to be completed easily. The competition was excellent and VERY closely matched this year with 4 boats scoring at least one first place finish across the 5 race series. Further evidence of the close competition this year comes from the observation that the top 4 crews all tallied total scores for races 2-5 within just 1 point of one another. This meant that the regatta came down to the first race, if you will. Bill and John Pfund with first time (ever) sailor Katie Stiemsma eked out an overall victory over Michael Ehnis and Julie Kelsea. Frank and Marianne Gerry finished 3rd.
