With a partly cloudy day with shifty 5-9 winds, there were 3 races today at Birmingham Sailing Club. Nancy Claypool, Carol Vlsupool and Carrie Berger won race 1, Greta Mitman and Heidi Gough won race 2. Race 3 was a repeat for Greta and Heidi! 21 teams, including 17 road warriors, converged on Lake Keowee for the 2025 Grits ‘n Haggis Regatta on May 17-18, 2025. The wind did not disappoint, as a consistently strong southwest flow provided 13-16 mph winds, with gusts to 20, on Saturday, and 8-10 mph winds with gusts nearing 15 on Sunday. Strong wind with lots of gusts made for tired muscles on the racecourse, but relatively easy work for the KSC Race Committee team, which was able to run 7 races over the 2 day event.

Severe weather preceded and threatened the entire weekend, but the 2025 Grande Maumelle Sailing Club’s was a success. A Cajun feast Friday night and obligatory smoked Hawg (pork) dinner Saturday night insured fun regardless of the weather. In addition to the usual fleet boats, we were honored to have Barry and Tracy Hamrick from Atlanta travel to Little Rock to sail with us, sail to a nice second place at that! The winner of the Flying Scot fleet was Chet Hight (FS 5860) with crew Joe Falasco. Chet continues to amaze all while racking up trophies...
