We at Carlyle Sailing Association (CSA) hope you will join us for the 2012 Flying Scot North American Championships (NACs) June 23 through 29 at beautiful Lake Carlyle, near Carlyle, Illinois.  CSA has hosted the NACs four times, most recently in 2004.  In addition, the club regularly hosts regional and national events; for example, the Championship of Champions was held here in 2010. The venue is one of the best in the US for small boat sailing, with plenty of paved car and boat parking, three electric jib cranes for hoisting boats into and out of the water, and a protected harbor...

  We are 5 races into a 6 race season and we have a winner; Paul Abdullah!  Congratulations to Paul and his crew who won the Lake Eustis regatta, after also winning in Jacksonville and Tampa.  You may know that Paul is a champion in the Thistle class and he seems to be having no trouble adapting to another Sandy Douglas design. Very impressive sailing!

The Flying Scot is a time-tested design that is comfortable and safe as well as fast and great fun to sail. The Flying Scot is one of the few small boats which have been in steady production since 1957. The Flying Scot was inducted into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame in 1998.  A look at the entire history of the boat and class starts with the designer, Gordon K. “Sandy” Douglass.
