Rigging - Pre 1970, End-boom Sheeting?

I'm seeking advice on rigging the mainsheet for an older (1632) Scot just purchased. I'm somewhat familiar with the now standard rig, but it appears this boat wasn't converted to mid-boom sheeting. The plan is to upgrade for Spring but we have a few weeks left in the season here in PA, so I'd like to take it out with current rigging.
As the pictures show, I seem to have a complete, multi-purchase block configuration for the end of the boom. Where I'm at a loss is when the sheet comes forward. There's a block mounted on the top of the centerboard trunk ... and one free block to attach elsewhere. No evidence of hardware having been attached mid-boom. It looks like I could attach the block at the aft base of the centerboard trunk -- but I'm not sure. Only other attachment point is at the vang attachment point, but that seems like a lot of strain and a bad angle.
I haven't found any rigging diagrams going that far back.
Any ideas? Or resources?

I have a boat with the original setup.
The sheet comes right off the block on the end of the boom to your hand. My boat has a winch (identical to the ones on the side decks of your boat) mounted on the canted mounting spot on the centerboard trunk where you now have a block. One can wrap the sheet around this winch in heavier winds.
I also  have a Harken Hexaratchet block on the end of the boom rather than the simple block you appear to have.  This is also helpful in heavier winds.
When coming about with this set up one needs to swivel twards the stern while swapping the tiller extension and sheet between hands. Sounds awkard but works fine with a little practice.

Jim,
That's really helpful.  Do you have the bitter end coming out of the block high (at the boom end) or low (by the tiller)?

High. Mine comes over the top of the ratcheting sheave.
Does your block have a ratcheting sheave?
Jim

Jim,  no ratchet blocks on the boat.  I'll try it as you suggest if fall weather allows then see what modifications to do for spring.
