2015 ACC's

Forums:

I want to publicly thank Joe Brake and the Blackbeard Sailing Club of New Bern, NC for their wonderful hospitality this past weekend.  As most of you can view on the main page, we encountered a storm which affected everyone in the fleet in one way or another.  The response from the committee, Blackbeard Sailing Club, volunteers, and the community was awesome.  So many people pitched in to help pull people from the water, salvage boats and parts, offer a towel, a cold beverage, bilge pumps, clothes, etc.- anything to assist.  Some rode out the storm right beside us to make sure we were safe.
While this is the nature of sailors I have encountered over my 40 years of sailing, I thought it appropriate to publicly thank them anyway.

Bravo Zulu to all at Blackbeard.  As Joe said we bonded.  In fact, this shows how well planned the event was since his team's plan adapted to the circumstances.

Despite the big weather event, I had an overall great time for all the reasons others have mentioned. Stuff happens; we all know that. The fleet response was something I'll never forget. And of course we all learned a thing or two that we can take back to our own clubs.
