Brian Hayes from North Sails started the day with a great video review of day 1 racing. Following that were wild times out on the bay today! We got one race in after a postponement and one race abandoned, there was a terrific race held. Some sailors did not go out, or came back in after going out, but those who stayed out got rewarded with a bit less wind 14-17 for most of the race. The boats were all sailing close together and competition was fierce. The last downwind leg had more wind, but everyone finished upright and only one capsize AFTER the race. Results...
Continue Reading...After a weather postponement earlier in the day, we went out in 15-17 knot winds and finished the first 2 races of the regatta today. One general recall got everyone in line and we only heard starting horns after that! Everyone stayed upright, but one collision caused a dismasting. There were several other collisions as well with less damage resulting from those. Despite that it was overall a great day on the water after the bad weather earlier in the day. Super job of race management by the Race Committee. Results to date are here

Continue Reading...The 2012 Dixie Lakes Travel Series included 7 regattas, one at each of the 7 member clubs in the Dixie Lakes District -- Muscle Shoals hosted the 2012 Wife-Husband Regatta and therefore did not hold their annual Dixie Lakes Series regatta in 2012 -- plus the 2012 Dixie Lakes District Championships at Lake Lanier. 63 skippers entered at least one of these 7 events, while 15 skippers entered more than once. For scoring purposes, competitors are awarded one point for entering a regatta and one point for each boat they beat in the event. The skipper amassing the most points in the series...
