As of race time Saturday, there were 42 wife-husband teams registered, from 11 different states, for the Flying Scot Wife-Husband Championships at Deep Creek Lake, MD. Regatta Chair Bob Vance and his team gave us a great day and we could hardly wait to go back out on Sunday. We want to extend our thoughts and prayers to all the families who are touched by the volume of tornado activity that is currently spreading across the mid-south and midwestern United States. And to those who lost family members, our sympathies go out to you. The damages that are seen on tv don't come close to giving the whole picture. Those of us who are far away can only imagine how this is affecting so many people who no longer have homes or who are forced to leave their homes. The Flying Scot Foundation has generously awarded a grant to North Carolina Community Sailing and Rowing (NCCSR) to purchase used sails for our 12 Flying Scots. NCCSR is located on Lake Norman not far from LNYC host of 2013 NAC. NCCSR will pay $200 for each retired racing set of main and jib brought to the NAC. We will have a table set up at LNYC. Selling your old sails to NCCSR will really help the community sailing racing and learn-to-sail programs and also help you dramatically reduce the cost of attending the event.
