NOTICE OF RACE
Greater Richmond Sailing Association
Annual Invitational Regatta
and
Flying Scot Capital District Championship
June 8th - 9th, 2013
You are cordially invited to join the Greater Richmond Sailing Association for a weekend of one-design racing and socializing on Swift Creek Reservoir located southwest of Richmond, VAin Midlothian, VA. This Invitational has been designated the Capital District Championship for Flying Scots.
1. RULES: This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by the current edition of The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) for 2013 - 2016, individual Class Rules, and the Racing Instructions of the Greater Richmond Sailing Association.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY:
2.1 Eligibility will be subject to individual Class Rules.
2.2 Any fleet with three or more boats will be started as a class including a Portsmouth Handicap fleet.
2.3 Advance registration is available online for eligible boats at http://www.regattanetwork.com/event/6577, on the FSSA event calendar at http://www.fssa.com/events or the Greater Richmond Sailing Association (GRSA) website @ http://www.grsa.org/ai1ec_event/grsa-invitational-2/?instance_id=159. Registration must be completed by Saturday, June 1st to avoid a late fee. Check in and registration at the regatta site will be available from 1600 – 1900 on Friday, June 7th, and Saturday morning, June 8th from 0900 until 1100.
3. FEES:
3.1 Fees are $70.00 per boat and include racing, continental breakfast both days, lunch on Sunday, socials after racing, and Saturday dinner for skipper and one (1) crew. Additional social/dinner tickets are available for $15.00. Saturday lunches, if selected during pre-registration, will be available at a cost of $6.00 each. With the exception of Saturday lunch, children under the age of five eat free.
3.2 Late fee for registration after June 1st: $10.00.
4. THE REGATTA:
4.1 Three or four races are planned for Saturday and two races for Sunday dependant upon weather.
4.2 With six races or more one throw out will be allowed.
4.3 One race will constitute a regatta.
4.4 The scoring system will be the Low Point System in Appendix A of the RRS.
4.5 Trophies will be awarded depending upon the number of entries in each class.
5. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sailing Instructions will be available at on site registration and at the skipper’s meeting. Courses to be sailed will be described in the Sailing Instructions. Any changes to Sailing Instructions will be made at the Skipper’s Meeting and posted on shore on the GRSA bulletin board.
6. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Friday, June 7th: Gates at GRSA open at 1400 for out of town arrivals.
On site registration from 1600 to 1900. Snacks and beverages will be available.
Saturday, June 8th Gates open at GRSA at 0700
0900 Registration opens
1100 Registration closes
1100 Skipper’s Meeting
1200 Warning signal for first race. Two to three additional races are to follow.
1730 Social
1830 Dinner
Sunday, June 9th: Gates open at GRSA at 0700
1000 Warning signal for first race. One or more races to follow. 1400 Social and presentation of trophies.

9. DIRECTIONS TO GRSA:
The Greater Richmond Sailing Association is located at the intersection of Genito and Woolridge Roads inChesterfield County,Virginiaon Swift Creek Reservoir.
From the North: Take I-95 South toRichmond. Exit at Number 79 for I-195/Powhite Parkway. Please note this is a dual exit for I-195/Powhite Parkway, and I-64 West. There are two lanes and you should stay in the left hand lane for the I-195/Powhite Parkway ramp. Follow I-195 to split forPowhite Parkway (State Route 76), US Route 60/360 and go over theJames River onto thePowhite Parkway. Once over the river there is a toll. Stay right and continue approximately 5 miles to another toll. Once through the toll, continue on past the exit for State Route 288 and you will come to a stoplight. Turn left ontoCharter Colony Parkway. At the second light, turn right ontoGenito Road. Follow Genito road through to the second light. Turn left ontoWoolridge Road and the entrance to GRSA is a left turn lane 50 yards on the left. There is a new entrance from Woolridge road into GRSA so please be alert for this change.
From the South: Take I - 95 North to just aboveChester and exit onto State Route 288 North. Exit from Route 288 for OldHundred Road. Follow the exit to the stoplight and turn left ontoCharter Colony Parkway and follow instructions above.
