Seventeen Flying Scots gathered at Lake Norman Yacht club for the annual Flying Scot Great 48; the weather looked perfect for a great weekend of sailing!   After a warm breakfast, the boats hit the water for sailing Saturday.  Mother nature, however, did not read the weather report and during the first race won by John Kreigdler and Dan Tegel there was a large shift that caused the second half of the fleet to beat into the finish line and then the wind shut down as rain went around the lake which kept the sailors dry, but...

There were 21 boats registered and 17 boats ont he line for the final leg of the 2022 Florida District Series at the Upper Key Sailing Club in Key Largo.  There were 3 racs on Saturday with some unexpected wind, but none on Sunday so Saturdays results stand.  Top 3 places went to Jim and Sheryl Signor, Dave Rosen and crew, Mark and Michelle Taylor. Under sunny 80° skies with east winds 8-10 in Race 4 and 10-15 in Race 5, PRO Jack Yoes and crew ran 2 awesome W-L races to finish up  racing in fine fashion. Placs continues to change during the races and some places wre decided at the very end of the last race!  Congratulations to Lynn Bruss and Monica Gaitan from Privateer Yacht Club, Championship winners and Bowman O‘Connor, Rachel Mittman and Katie Bayless from Corinthian Sailing Club, Challenger winners. 2022 FS Women’s NAC - So, during the second race yesterday, this team - leading the race at the time - lost its mainsheet block when a pin let go on them. But did Andi Hoffman, Melissa Miller and Tracy Hembrick panic? Maybe a little, but not for long! While Andi kept the helm and Melissa managed the other sails, Tracy used everything she had to help control the main! And the team kept going and finished 3rd in the race. Day 1 started out with everyone dancing to R-E-S-P-E-C-T on the dock, and these women sure derserve that! Mother Nature gave us 80° sunny skies and awesome wind, NNW at 10-12 MPH building to 16-17, with PRO Jack Yors running 3 W-L races. The places changed in every race with some pretty fierce competition! After 3 races, Lynn Bruss & Monica Gaitan lead in Championship and Bowman O'Connor, Rachel Mittman & Katie Bayless lead in Challenger.
