check the cap on the fill tube. I found mine to be cracked when investigating a slow leak and replaced it with a rubber stopper and tape temporarily until I installed a replacement bag a few months later. Otherwise deflate and remove it then give it the old bath tub test.
The arguments in favor of the change regarding safety and general recalls imply one thing for any of those benefits to be realized: that we will all begin monitoring a VHF throughout the race. I do not wish to see this become a defacto requirement for participating in a regatta, I would find it a distraction and choose not to do it. One of the joys of sailing for me is being free of the electronic tethers that chain us to that other reality. I don’t feel the time tested flag and horn system of signaling the fleet has proven to be so inadequate that it warrants this imposition.
I second the advice from Glenn, it may take a few iterations but get the rake and tension as close to the guide as possible and then mark the settings with a sharpie. You shouldn’t have to readjust very often, just check the rake each time you set up the rig. Also, when you experience weather helm going up wind try pulling up the centerboard a bit (a few inches at a time). This does not actually raise the board but shifts it aft changing balance of the boat in favor of less helm.

I have a used boom, most hardware removed and with a slight vang-induced bend taking up space in the barn, it can be yours for the asking. I can bring it to the NACs if you (or anybody else) were interested.
I just replaced mine and I’m glad I ordered the cover too. The new cover is heavy duty and has the straps built right into it so I’m confident it will remain secure and protect the bag from the inevitable poking that occurs from the pole, boom storage, etc.

FS5010I had the exact same thing happen last year. I tried injecting epoxy into the holes and refastening the track with larger screws but it pulled out again. I ended up cutting a square out of the foam with a drywall saw, drilling through and then thru-bolting with stainless machine screws (4 ½” #10 I think) backed with washers, double hex nuts and lock-tite. Then I put the foam cut out back in with adhesive and the problem appears to be resolved.
