Fall 48 Report from Lake Norman

By Tim Porter The 2025 Fall 48 Regatta once again proved that even when the wind refuses to show up on time, sailors will still find a way to have a good time. The weekend had all the hallmarks of a classic fall event at Lake Norman Yacht Club: great food, plenty of laughter, and just enough breeze to make everyone question their life choices before rewarding them with a few hours of honest sailing. Saturday’s forecast called for no breeze, and for once the weatherman was exactly right. The lake looked more like a mirror than a racecourse. The… Read more

Many thanks must also go to the wonderful LESC volunteers that hosted us this weekend and to the Race Committee for their on-the-water expertise. 2025 WCSC Hospice Regatta – Big Wind, Big Money and FS 2 Rules

From John Kreidler on Facebook – full results are here The Western Carolina Sailing Club Hospice Regatta was held October 10-12 on Lake Hartwell with 21 Flying Scots registered and 80 boats attending. Saturday was breezy with winds 15-25 as we ended up sailing one race before the RC raised the AP over H sending all boats to the harbor. We had several capsizes that took some time to rescue. It also provided a learning moment for me as the rescue and RC boats were not prepared or educated on what needed to be done to handle a swamped Flying… Read more

2025 Florida District Series Event #1 is in the books.

From Henry Picco on Facebook – Thank you to the CGSC Race Committee and their fleet & club members for a wonderful event. Congratulations to David Ames & Lia Lara winning the regatta and Philippe Dusser & his team winning the Charlie Fowler Memorial trophy by being the highest finishing CGSC member Scot. The next Florida District event is up in two short weeks at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club, followed by the Jeff Penfield Memorial Regatta… Read more
