ParticipantThanks. Sounds like viable options. I would be concerned about strength of a fill and have not found a sleave yet. Will reinstall originals for now. Had local sailmaker look at them -sailed Thisles which use a similar roller – said they appear in good enough shape.
I assume others with custom Flex boats will have similar issues.Rowsinski
ParticipantThey told me to knock out the inner bearing. It is a very loose fit. Sinbce mfg. does not make that size anymore…

ParticipantThanks Paul,
What they said was they pulled the molds from CustomFlex after they stopped reinforcing the Trunk with wood. After around boat 3000+.I will see I guess when I take her out. I’ve been painting and prepping the bottom
Flipping it back over this weekend for last deck coat of perfection.
Our club is a Lightning Club so I’ve a chance to race one. Will be able to compare stiffness against it. We are not going to race it, but if I can do anything if it is to help it… I’ve done some glass work before…

ParticipantA bit short handed but Tires make it easy. The Center board was out. The only mistake was the tilting chain plate got a liitle bent when on when the movement shifted it to the side wall. Pearced the sidewall but bent a bit.
Why a 5th person would be nice. But only 3 to tilt it upright and 2 shifted to other side to ease down. Not as heavy as I thought. Nice to have hockey Players as friends.
I bought thin plywoord 4×4 sheets and rigid insulation but the tires did most of the work. Left 1 on each side, one on bow, two on stern and one on mast step. They give so it seems to balance well. Luckly a friend several years ago left me his winter tires whern he moved south to sell. I told my wife they would come in handy. 🙂
Flying Scot inc. said earlier a little bent can be straighted once.
Any thoughts on how best to straight after righting later. Someone mensioned heating before bending a bit. Thought a real heat gun might help.
