power off slightly .. let the jib back wind to carry you over … power down and come up as boat speed increases. Too quick on the rudder and you will stall the blade.
The ‘rear compartment’ is the tupperware tray under the rear deck; by centerboard winch cavity, it is the actual drum area where the centerboard control line resides. The board will be up, so the drum area is ’empty’.
Giving credit to Bob New in Merritt Island, his method has been adopted on my Scot.
Simply insert the end of the boom (tackle and all) into the rear storage compartment and then lay the front of the boom into the centerboard drum cavity. Lines up perfectly and no damage.
The deck is a balsa core, so any intrusion is not a welcome one.
Depending on your task, walking the bow line back and around the inside of the shroud usually allows trailer loading.
A trick I saw at the NA’s last year was using the hole in the seat for the boom crutch as a ‘cleat’. Just thread a line (with a loop spliced in the end) through the hole and put the line bitter end through the loop and draw it closed. You now have a rigged stern line.
Do not know how ‘things are’ in PA, but with fuel at $4 a gallon and the least expensive room I can find is over $175 a night plus taxes (another $25) and food for two, it works out to over double what my budget was for Deltaville. Additionally, it is an extra day’s drive there and back, which tacks on another $250 bucks. Sorry, but won’t be going to Wisconsin, either.

As far as a radius of Scot owners, you may be right; however, a radius of Scot racer’s would be an imaginative point between VA/NC, Texas and Florida. Go back in time and look at Lake Norman participation, the southeast/texas IS where it’s at.
I am not being critical of venue or management at all (and wish them ‘off the hook’ success), the national economy has dealt a wicked card that may play for years to come and if so, we have to look to more a regional concentration of participants vs. moving regatta’s around nationally ‘to be fair to all fleets’.
One item that impressed me with Deltaville was the number of ‘families’ that were there, vacation style (mine included) and of course, to add in that expense for Fishing Bay … it is further out reach financially.
Please do not change the mid-winter venue (as has been discussed), it is affordable, family friendly and a great club (SPYC) too boot !

I found that a high quality pair of sunglasses (+$100) is more effective in anticipating wind direction.
I bent my boom last year and Flying Scot faxed me a procedure that worked excellent, give them a call.
Go to Wal-Mart and buy the LED trailer lamp kit, it will cost around $50 and you can install it your self. I did not run a new harness, just cut and stripped the wires close to the exsisting fixture and used the provided heat shrink butt-style connectors(Very important to use heat shrink style and heat them until the glue oozes out).
I run two trailers and 4am is now a much more pleasant time!
