Bow Bag and Cover Questions

I have a stone age Scot which does not have a bow flotation bag. I’m going to be buying one, but I’m wondering I should get the extra protective cover as well. In looking at the Flying Scot web site, I see that the bag costs about $100 while the protective cover adds another $100 or so. Unfortunately there is no description of what the cover is comprised of. Does the protective cover provide enough protection to the bag to be worth the extra money?

Unfortunately the bag cover is important. Without it the likelihood of puncturing the bag is pretty high especially if you carry anything under the forward deck such as a spinnaker pole, paddle or boat hook or if you simply need to work under the deck for any reason like adjusting the forestay toggle.
