With heavy hearts, we are cancelling the Douglass Orr regatta. All week we’ve been closely monitoring the changing weather forecast and it looked ok, not great for Saturday up until last night. However, the forecast this morning has changed and is calling for gusts up to 40. This is a safety concern so we decided to cancel.
I understand much of the work has been done and money has been spent. Anything we can cancel or return, we should do so. For those items we can’t, we’ll try to figure out how to use at a future event.
Of course, all entry fees already paid will be refunded shortly. Thanks to everyone in the fleet, Sprite board, race committee volunteers, and Cedar Point for allowing us to use their facilities.
Hopefully we’ll have better luck next year.

This year, we’ve changed the format from a two day event to a single day. We’re hoping it will enable more sailors to participate since it only takes up one day, doesn’t require a hotel stay for visiting sailors, and have also lowered the fees.
