Bob Neff, FSSA Chief Measurer 1991-2018, has passed away
There is sad news in the Flying Scot community thiis week. Bob Neff, our Chief Measurer from 1991 to 2018 passed away on Octover 1, 2019, at age 79.Bob leaves behind his wife Mary Ellen, daughter Lorie, sons Daniel and David, and six grandchildren. Bob was dedicated to the sport of sailing for many years, and joined the Flying Scot family in 1979 when he and his wife Mary Ellen purchased their first Flying Scot to sail with their family. More than Just Racing at the 2019 Glow in the Dark Regatta, Clinton Lake, IL
There were 32 boats on the line on Saturday, 9/28/2019, at the Glow in the Dark Regatta at Clinton Lake, IL. The RC tried to be patient but it was not to be and the boats did not race that day. There may not have been wind but there was loads of camaraderie. On shore, there was a firece board game in proress betweeen Bronson Bowling and Bruce Kitchen as they waitied for wind (we were not told who won!).. 2019 Atlantic Coast Championship, Lavallette Yacht Club, NJ
Lavallette Yacht Club in New Jersey hosted the 2019 Atlantic Coast Championship on 9/21-9/22/2019. Regatta Chair Roy Childers did a super job organizing the event and it was a great time for the sailors. There were 25 boats from 6 states on the line for PRO James Wlash and his RC. They got in 3 races on Saturday in very difficult and choppy conditions and 2 races on Sunday when Mother Nature was a bit kinder! 2019 Scot A Hoochee, Lake Lanier Sailing Club, GA
Photos by John Martin The annual Scot-A-Hoochee was held at Lake Lanier Sailing Club on 9/21-9/22/2019. While there was not as much wind as we usually hope for, ther was lots of fun, food and beverages to keep everyone entertained. Saturday 3 racs were held in light wind, but Sunday there was just not enough breeze to hold races. Congraultaions to winners Rob and Patricia Fowler with 2 bullets out of 3 races! 2019 Whale of a Sail Regatta – Carlyle Lake, IL
Whale of a Sail Regatta Flying Scot Results Skipper Rick Wojnar and dad, Chris, from Champaign, IL and Clinton Lake Fleet 135 won first place in the Flying Scot division of the multi-boat Whale of a Sail regatta at Carlyle (IL) Lake September 14 and 15, 2019. Rick and Chris bested 17 registered other Scots by placing 1st in 3 of 4 races in light winds in the 2-day event. Second place went to Bill Vogler and Peg Woodworth while 3rd was garnered by Fleet 83 Captain Andrew Tasker and crew Franka Reuter. See full resultS here. 2019 Wife Husband Championship at Corinthian Sailing Club, Dallas, TX – Day 2
The wind gods were not cooperative today so we did not sail on Day 2 of the 2019 Wife Husbands at Corinthian Sailing Club in Dallas. Fleet 23 were wonderful hosts for the event and everyone had a wonderful time!. WIth the 3 races sailed yesterday, the trophies will be awarded. Championship winners are: Kelly and Heidi Gough, Bill and Jennifer Draheim, Ryan Malmgren and Stacey Rieu, Tom and Melissa Miller, and Jeff and Amy Smith Linton.
