Long Time FSSA Member Mary Meno Passes Away
Mary Meno, a long time FSSA Member, passed away on December 1, 2020. Mary and her husband, Fred Meno, were avid Flying Scot sailors for many years. The championship trophy for the Midwinters is named after Mary.. 2020-21 Florida Districts – Gator Bowl at Rudder Club, Jacksonville, FL
Gator Bowl 2020 is in the books. Fluky NW air on Saturday, zero on Sunday. 4 races Saturday! Jeff and Amy for the win, WallyGator stays in Florida with 1, 3, 5. Carolina skippers Dave Rink and Bob McElwain took 2nd and 4th. See y’all in Davis Island in January. Results are here. Read more

2020-21 Florida Districts – Jeff Pennfield Memorial Regatta
After a year with many regattas cancelled, Sarasota Sailing Squadrn hosted the Jeff Pennfield Memorial Regatta on 11/14-15/2020. There were 22 boats registered and there was good wind! Amy Smith Linton wrote on Facebook: What a wonderful return to the Flying Scot racing scene for us: the Jeff Penfield regatta was beautifully run (as Sarasota Sailing Squadron has gotten us accustomed to expect!), with the kind of weather we like best: warm and enough breeze for us both to sit on the high side most of the time. Dave Beckett Special Recognition Award – Fleet 203 Outgoing Captain
Dave Beckett has been the Fleet Captain of Fleet 203 at the Sailing Club of Washington in the Capital District for many years. As he leaves that role and moves to another area and another fleet, Chip Lubsen from his club let us know about Dave’s many accomplishments over the years. 2020 Fleet of the Year – Fleet 210, Jefferson, MO
The Flying Scot Fleet of the Year Award is usually presented at the Annual Meeting during the North American Championships. Well, with this unusual year, due to COVID-19, the NAC was postponed to 2021, and the Annual Meeting being via Zoom conference, where the award was announced, but no one from that fleet was on the call.
