Orchard Lake Country Club in Michigan Expands Sailing Program with Flying Scots!
Orchard Lake Country Club in Orchard Lake, Michigan, made a decision to expand its fleet of boats in 2020 to replace their fleet of Y Boats. They offer many amenities to their members, but they note that the Waterfront/Sailing Center is an “essential area of the Club that contributes in a tangible way to the value of membership here at Orchard Lake Country Club. The continued refinement and stewardship in this area of the Club will only further enhance the value of being part of the OLCC family tradition for generations to come“. 2021 Snowbird Regatta – Sarasota Sailing Squadron, FL

Here is the writeup by Charlie Clifton from Facebook: A light westerly with temps in the mid 70s provided beautiful conditions for the 2021 Snowbird Regatta despite dying at the very end. Close races with photo finishes made for an exciting day. The mighty Twinems, Bob & Brenda, put everyone behind the 8 Ball with two bullets. 2020-21 Florida Districts at Davis Island Yacht Club, Tampa FL
Davis Island Yacht Club hosted their 2021 Flying Scot rfegatta on 1/16-17/2021. There was lots of wind Saturday, even a capsize, but everyone made it back into the dock 0k. It was cold in the 60’s and the howling wind made Saturday a one race day. Sunday was a bit kinder and there were 2 races. Webinar – US Sailing and One Design – 01/21/2021

Former FSSA President Passes Away
Jim Harris, Former FSSA President and active Flying Scot sailor for many years, passed away on December 15, 2020. Jim was a member of Carlyle Sailing Association for many years and ran several of our national events from there. He and his wife Betty Striuckhoff spent many years sailing together on their Flying Scot. We will all miss Jim and we thank him for his many years of friendship and service to FSSA. COngratulations to long-time FSSA Member Hank Sykes for being names Sail Newp0ort VOlunteer of the YEar! From Sail Newport’s Facebook Page on 12/9/2020: “Hank Sykes is one of our most beloved and hardest working volunteers,” says Matt Duggan, Sail Newport’s regatta director. Hank was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award at tonight’s Sail Newport virtual Annual Meeting.
