2013 Atlantic Coast Championship at Tom’s River, NJ – Day 1
The 2013 Atlantic Coast Championships are on at Tom’s River Yacht Club, Tom’s River, NJ form 9/14 – 9/15/2013, with a chilly start to Day 1 – in the 50’s and warming to alomst 70 degrees. Day one also featured 0-15 MPH winds with 60-degree wind shifts. The Race Committee managed to get in 3 races and after day 1 the leaders are Chmapionship – Rob Whiiitemore and Challenger – Greg Shafer. Hopefully day 2 will bring steadier winds! 2013 Egyptian Cup at Carlyle
Flying Scot Fleet 83 at Carlyle, Illinois hosted it’s Egyptian Cup on Labor Day weekend at Carlyle lake in Southern Illinois. The Cup is over 50 years old having originated at Crab Orchard Lake in Carbondale, Illinois as a multi fleet regatta. For the last 20 years it has been a Flying Scot Regatta at Carlyle. Sixteen boats competed in warm temperatures. Four races were finished on Saturday and Sunday’s races were called due to lack of wind. 2013 Greater New York Districts
The Greater New York District Championship was held on Saturday Aug 24th at the the Westhampton Yacht Squadron in Remsenburg , Long Island. A fleet of 21 boats from Conn, NJ, and Long Island enjoyed a brisk SE wind at 10 to 15 knots. Three races were held on windward/ leeward courses. 2013 Ephraim Yacht Club Women’s Regatta
The EYC’s annual Women’s Regatta was sailed in Flying Scots on the evening of Tuesday, July 30, 2013 The winning team was Nancy Claypool, Annika Pearson and Carrie Berger with four straight bullets for 4 points. Second was Ally Dykman, Erica Heidler and Suzy Dykman, who prevailed in a tiebreaker with 12 points. Third was Delaney Dykman, Gretchen Pearson and Sydney Richter, also with 12 points. 2013 Pacific Districts
A wide range of Flying Scot build dates were evident by observing the competitors sail numbers where numbers ranged from #25 to #5472. A total of eleven Flying Scots from Richland Washington Fleet 186 and Seattle Washington Fleet 100 competed in the two day event sailed off shore of Fort Warden State Park on the Puget Sound. This location continues to be popular with past and present fleet members. 2013 Fishing Bay 74th Annual One Design Regatta
Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, VA, posted their 74th Annual One Design Regatta on August 10-11, 2013, with Optis, Lasers, Albacore, Front Runner, San Juan, Typhoon and Flying Scots. 2013 27th Annual Saratoga Invitational – Day 2
Sunday 8/11 brought us another beautiful day at Saratoga Lake, NY, with light and variable southeast winds to start the last race. The winds were fluky and spotty towards the middle of the race, then died near the end if the course. The leaders sat near the finish line waiting to see if they could get what they needed to just make it across the finish line.
