There is no correct answer, but try 5. Three Saturday starting at 11:00 AM or noon depending on how long of a drive you expect people to undertake. two on Sunday to allow people to get home. No race start after 3 PM.
You can have more races but that will mean shortening each race or if you are fortunate enough, starting directly in the vicinity of the launch area.
Many years ago after participating in one day college type sailing with 10 races in a day, I was disappointed with attending weekend CBYRA type regattas that only had a total of three races. If you schedule more short races there will be a chance for a larger number of people to do well in at least one race and thus feel good after all the races are over.
Go for more rather than less.

I have a factory wire rope extender that is perhaps somewhat longer than 5 inches. The top part of the extender is attached to an elstic chord that goes to a simple plastic tubular cleat on the tiller.With the elastic tight the effective point of attachment is to the tiller, appx 8 inches forward of the rudder head. On downwind legs in light air this keeps the main sheet on the rear deck instead of dragging through the water. It is not perfect but it helps. Karafiath FS 3512
If this is the small wood step ( $18 at Home Depot) then an even more usefull function for many of us is to place it under the rear of the boat and use the trailer jack to elevate the tongue as high as it goes. The boat is then mostly level, and the mast can be stepped /unstepped without being hitched to the car.
Hello, Just out of curiosity, is the radial chute really faster? I would want to make sure before I purchased one. It is more expensive to buy than a cross cut. The radial has a lot more hand work and the pannels have to be properly oriented from the roll of material so it costs more to make because it uses more cloth. With the pannels more in line with the stressess it probably lasts longer than a cross cut and keeps it’s shape better. But consider, the same fabric we use on the Scot is used on sails that are four or five times the area on the Scot sail and on boats that are 10 or more times as heavy. So are the stressess that important on the Scot sail?. If the stress is really as large as on the big boat, the Scot is either sailing nearly directly downwind plane or it is turned over in the water due to the huge heeling moment.Also, do we sail in wind velocities as high as the big boats?. I suspect that purchasing three cross cuts are a better deal than two radials during the same number of elapsed years. Also, now that windwrd-leeward is more popular, a slightly stretched cross cut that no longer performs on a tight reach may be faster on the downwind leg of the windward – leward race course . Gents I made my own tapered sheets, starting with 3/8 line but had the opposite approach to that presented by Gallus. I modified about the same 9 ft length that he did. However I just pulled most of the core out of the braided cover, keeping the braided cover intact. After working the first one or two strands of the core out of the cover the rest went really quickly. My sheet is truly tapered in that not all of the core is pulled out and toward the thicker end I left more of the core in. All that is needed is some patience.good luck. Gabor FS 3512
Hello. Any capsize drill should be in deep water to avoid the mast getting stuck in the mud or the sails getting muddy in case for some reason the boat goes over all the way. Also, the sail should be on the boat and fully hoisted. The wet sails tend to scoop water and without a full release of the mainsail cleat I was not able to right the boat after my capsize. The thing that you can do without any capsizing of the boat is to train people to get aboard the upright boat from the water. As a result of my one and only capsize in over 30 years of Scot sailing I found that getting on board from the water was the hardest part. I have since installed a stern ladder. I would think hard about embarking on such a project. Doing a demonstration where others watch from a nearby boat or dock is one thing. Given the litigous nature of our society I would never have the individual students participate in the capsize drill. FS3512
I use a marine polish, not wax, to seal in the pores on a wet sanded gel coat. With the polish there is much less staining of the hull due to water pollution such as the occasional oil blob. As for speed, I sincerely doubt that you will be able to tell the difference between a polish applied on a wet sanded gel coat and the same wet sanded gel coat without polish. Recent tests on a laser centerboard indicate that anything beyond a 400 grit sanding is a waste of effort.
Occasionally on a lake I see people who have built a ramp using PVC pipe for rollers. This seems to work well for catamarans
