ParticipantThe spinnaker launches UNDER the jib sheet according to your question. When you douse the spinnaker, the crew reaches under the jib sheets, grabs the spinnaker sheet and pulls the sail into the boat underneath the jib sheets as well.

ParticipantI used auto paint on my scot- ABOVE THE WATERLINE. We painted it outdoors. It held up OK, but scratched quite a bit- may have been the set up.

Participant2450 had same winch. I just removed it. Did not serve any real purpose. It could have once been used to help raise the centerboard.

ParticipantI also did the similar repair 3-4 years ago. I used the same process mentioned here. It has held strong. I also take my rudder off after each use because the weight of the rudder on the boat probably adds stress to that area. Make sure you take recommendation above to mark the place where the holes are to make sure you reattach the brackets in the right place
