Thirteen boats came to the line for race one including eight in the championship fleet and five in the challenger group. Principal Race Officer Less Hathaway set long, windward-leeward courses in winds that blew from the north and northeast during the day. He ended the regatta with a triangle course in10 mph winds that challenged the fleet after a long day of racing.
Thirteen-year-old Topher Lucyk, Lincroft, sailing with his father Paul, took top honors in the challenger fleet with two firsts and two seconds in the five race regatta and eight points. Finishing second in the fleet was Alan Walkow, Parsippany, sailing with his father Alan Sr. followed by Brian Dellet, Belford, with Terry Murch as crew.
