Today the wind came in mostly from the west and the velocity was not as strong as previous days.    Jim Tichenor and his Race Committee started right on time at 1:00 PM and we raced a 4-leg W-L race with a usually steady 8-10 MPH SSW wind.   With race scheduled for 1:00 PM, we were not hopeful when there was nothing by noon.  So we sat at the dock or on shore waiting to see what would happen.  It was 95 degrees or higher and lots of water and Gatorade was being consumed. While registration for the finals continnued and boats were still being weighed in and measured, there was lots of excitement on the water with the Women’s and Junior’s NACs being raced.  It was a wonderful sight with 8 Women’s teams and 11 Junior teams out there fighting every minute for their places.  We were very pleased to see so many teams out there today!    Fifty boats are registered for the 2015 NAC at Bay Waveland Yacht Club in Mississippi.  Arrivals continued throughout the day on Saturday 6/20, with boats being measured and checked in.  One boat (above) got a new mast after a 40MPH gust took out the old one a week ago at a regatta.  The Women and Juniors have their turn tomorrow, with the rest of the skippers getting out there on Monday when the qualifiers start.  Good luck to all the participants – the competition is fierce!
