2014 Fontelieu Classic – Cedar Point Yacht Club, Westport, CT
Fontelieu Classic winners Josh Goldman and Lynne Petrocelli On an unusually warm and summerlike weekend in late September, Cedar Point Yacht Club in Westoport CT hosted 22 Thistles and 10 Flying Scots in the 2014 Fontelieu Fall Classic. Saturday brought us some fair winds that got us out on the race course on time with hope of getting in at least one race, given that the forecast for Sunday was little to no wind. 2014 ACC and Capital District – Fishing Bay YC, Deltaville, VA – Day 1
Are you wishing you were at the ACC’s this weekend? This is a picture of one competitor’s dock at the beach house they are staying at – we should all have a mooring like that! Reports are that racing was great today with weather in the 70’s and winds from the northeast in the teens. There are 35 boats, 23 in Championship and 12 in Challenger and competitors from the Capital District are also vying for the District Championship. Results to date are here. Read more

There had been some unexpected lowering of the lake this summer, followed by a very dry spell resulting in no recovery of the lake level. 2014 Scot A Hoochee Regatta – Lake Lanier, Atlanta, GA
The Flying Scot fleet at Lake Lanier and their guests had a great time on 9/13 and 9/14/2014 at the Scot-a-Hoochee regatta. Racing was challenging as storm clouds moved around us Saturday, creating big wind shifts. We got in four races Saturday and finished in a dying breeze. Sunday conditions were light rain and a shifty east breeze and we got in two races before we headed in for lunch. 2014 Egyptian Cup Regatta – Carlyle Lake, IL
The Egyptian Cup Had 21 Boats and Perfect Conditions – Let’s Hear it for the Pharoh! Well, I meant to post something before we left for the Egyptian Cup at Carlyle Lake, because we knew before we got there that we would have 20 boats. That’s an awesome turnout! As Mike Pitzer, the “Pharoah” for the regatta, explained on Sunday, he was hoping for 20 boats to help mark the 20th anniversary of the Cup being held at Carlyle.
