    Hi.  New owner to an old boat, FS #238.  Everything is solid, no soft spots.  Looking forward to sailing next year.
    My question is that this boat is finished “clear” on the floor bottom.  I can see the balsa blocks and the fiberglass overlay.  Is that typical for this vintage boat, or am I seeing the result of a floor that has been replaced at one point in its history? Do you think it is necessary to paint over for UV protection?

    Having owned 99 in the past, the floor had its core shown. I painted it to make it nicer.
