Someone has asked about camping at SPYC. The sailing center is situated on city property and, as such, camping is not allowed on the grounds. The nearest camping site is in Madiera Beach (KOA-MADEIRA BEACH 727 392-2233) which is about 25-40 minutes.

Closest thing to camping would be the PonceDeLeon Hotel[:)]…
Rumored rates were less than $50/night during the week of the event (although I’ve not confirmed that). If you want to “camp” I’d make a call to “The Ponce”.

    Hope this helps.

Brian is correct there are not alot of campsites close to the club. However Fort Desoto park is beautiful and has excellent camping, it is located on the Gulf of Mexico in the southwest corner of Pinellas County. I think it would be about a 20 to 30 minute drive from the club, mostly by highway. Here is a link to the website; http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/05_Ft_DeSoto.htm
I would chose this over the KOA which is located in a commercial area of St Pete although once inside the park it is not bad but no comparison to Fort Desoto.
