Results of the Scot fleet at the multi boat Whale of a Sail regatta at Carlyle Lake IL September 16-17 were just published. There was only Saturday racing on a drifter weekend which saw Dan and Tobi Moriarty take honors in a club boat with borrowed sails. Many boats DNC. Dan and Tobi were no strangers to winning as they took the Midwest District Championship in the same boat back in June at the Egyptian Cup. Formerly Lightning sailors, they crewed for Matt Fisher in a World Championship victory some years ago. Welcome to Scot sailing!
After 2 great days of racing, food and friends, we are all done. We had a postpone on Saturday but at 1:00 we were on the water preparing for racing. With a few general recalls, PRO Dave Hudson and crew managed 3 awesome races with winds 10-15 from the South. Sunday, after 2 general recalls and a huge wind shift from southeast to southwest, we got 1 good race in before the wind was not cooperative. The Lintons won, the Eckarts are second, Pelosis are third. Full results here. Photos (unedited)...

From Facebook - This past weekend, the EYC held their 118th Ephraim Regatta. 23 boats representing 8 yacht clubs participated. 1st Place went to Peter Sobol and David Ames, 2nd Place to Ryan Malmgren and Stacey Rieu, 3rd place went to Dave Chapin and Caroline Chapin, 4th Place went to Mark Johnson and PJ Hildebrand and 5th Place went to Mike Faugust and Jennifer Ikeda-Faugust. The EYC also gave their club awards including the Vail Cup, Sauter Memorial, Knudson Memorial Trophy and the Sturgis Cup. Congratulations to the winners!

From Facebook - Paul Lee of the Detroit Yacht Club and the Edison Boat Club won the 2023 Michigan-Ontario District regatta hosted by the DYC on Aug. 5-6. Lee, sailing an Edison boat and sails in the event, is a multi-year winner of the District trophy, this year besting Brian Hawkins of Portage Lake, Michigan, by a single point in the final standings. Racing began Saturday Aug. 5 in relatively light winds on Lake St. Clair, with three races completed that day.
