2013 Egyptian Cup Regatta
Carlyle, IL,
Flying Scot Fleet 83 at Carlyle, Illinois hosted it's Egyptian Cup on Labor Day weekend at Carlyle lake in Southern Illinois. The Cup is over 50 years old having originated at Crab Orchard Lake in Carbondale, Illinois as a multi fleet regatta. For the last 20 years it has been a Flying Scot Regatta at Carlyle. Sixteen boats competed in warm temperatures. Four races were finished on Saturday and Sunday's races were called due to lack of wind. FSSA president Frank Gerry and first lady Marianne noted that the Saturday meal was one of the finest they have had at a Regatta. Dan and Tobi Moriarity of Fleet 83 out pointed Ben Williams and crew Chris Tezdale to take the Cup. President and First Lady Gerry finished third. Fleet 83 announced that the Cup will be held again on Labor Day in 2014. Full results are attached below.
